Have you ever wanted to create your very own hand-dyed yarn?  Explore the art of dyeing plant-based fibers? If so, then this is the class for you!

ur “Simpler Ways?” dye workshop will teach you the basics of color mixing while avoiding unnecessary muddling. Explore the unlimited possibilities when applying dye to a skein of yarn. Each student will leave the workshop with two unique hand-dyed skeins of a cotton/rayon blend yarn.

Hand-Painting Skeins for Warp


Have you ever wanted to create your very own hand-painted warp?  Explore the possibilities of using hand-painted yarn for a warp-faced weaving project? If so, then this is the class for you!

The workshop begins with a focus on using your hand-painted skeins from the weavers dye workshop to wind a warp, so that the color repeats will be seen. The method used is not the usual way in which weavers wind warp. After, you will learn the basics of color mixing, explore the possibilities, and dye your own skeins to be used as warp. Each student will leave the workshop with two unique hand-painted skeins.

Mary Gavan provides a presentation of her extensive background with dyes and fibers which includes preparation of yarn bases, mixing dyes, use of chemicals, safety when dyeing yarn, finishing, labeling, and getting dyed yarn out to customers.
